STRAWBERRY MILK

Strawberry and Milk is one of my husbands favorite. Whenever I get normal whole milk from the store, there is always another container laying in the cart - Strawberry Milk. I have never seen anyone drink this milk so much like he does. After failing to put a stop to this store bought drink (No, I am not a bossy wife, but I would love to see my husband live healthy), I decided to take another route and that is preparing this at home. At first he was skeptical but after taking a sip, he came around and ever since then he makes this at home himself (now you might think this happened months ago, but this just happened two days ago).

There is also another person in my family who just loves this drink and that is none other than my nephew. He is 6 years old and is just like any other kid who loves Strawberry or Chocolate Milk. If your kids do not like drinking milk then the next best option is to make homemade strawberry milk. The best part of homemade is that you get to determine how healthy it should be.

INGREDIENTS

Prep Time: 20 mins
Cook Time: 15 mins
Total Time: 35-40 mins
Serves: 3-4





  • Milk                      - 3-4 cups
  • Strawberries (sliced)     - 2 cups
  • Sugar                     - 1/3 cup
  • Water                     - 1/4 cup
  • Vanilla Extract           - 1 tsp
METHOD OF PREPARATION STEP BY STEP


1.Clean and remove the leaves and chop the strawberries.

2.Heat a sauce pan over medium heat, add chopped strawberries, sugar and water. Simmer on to medium low heat until the berries are soft for about 5-8 minutes. Remove from heat. Let it cool.

3.Pour it into a blender/ mixer. Puree until smooth.

4.Strain the strawberry mixture through a mesh/ strainer into a bowl. Press well to extract as much juice as possible. Stir in vanilla extract.

5.Refrigerate the syrup for 30 minutes to 1 hour. After that stir strawberry sauce into cold milk.

Notes:
  • To enhance the taste of strawberry milk you can ADD a scoop of vanilla or strawberry Ice-cream into it.
  • You can store strawberry syrup in refrigerator up to 1 week and make strawberry milk whenever needed by adding 3 table spoon of syrup for each glass of milk and stir well to combine.
