HOMEMADE MANGO JAM

JAM MANGO JAM, Homemade Jam, Sweet and delicious MANGO JAM!!!

This is my very first JAM that I have prepared. Never knew it would turn out just like the one I bought from the store but without any preservatives. If you have kids at home, then it is better to make a homemade jam. I did not expect this, but everyone in my family loved it. I took one lightly toasted bread, spread jam all over it and eat it. I like my bread a little crispy and the sweet Mango Jam made it even better. Mango Jam is now a regular breakfast at my house for the past couple of days now.

INGREDIENTS

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 30 mins
Total Time:
40-45 mins
Serves:
1 medium sized jar

  • Ripe Mango (peeled and chopped) - 2 medium                                       large
  • Sugar                           - 1/2 cup or as                                   needed
  • Lemon Juice                     - 1 tsp
  • Saffron                         - 1 pinch
METHOD OF PREPARATION STEP BY STEP

1.Place a spoon or small plate in freezer for checking the right consistency of the jam later.
Wash, peel and chop the mangoes into small cubes. Grind the mangoes coarsely  in a blender.

2.Heat a sauce pan, add pureed mango, saffron threads, sugar and lemon juice over medium heat. Bring it to a boil and simmer until the mango mixture thickens and all the water evaporates for about 20-25 minutes. Keep stiring. The mixture will turn glossy at this stage.

3.To know the right consistency of jelling. Take the frozen spoon and place some jam on the frozen spoon/ plate, it will hold its shape and will stay like a jelly. If it is runny and saucy, it has not reached the right consistency. If so, cook for few more minutes until it reaches thick jam consistency.
Remove from heat. Let it cool. Pour into sterilized glass jars and close the lid tightly. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 weeks.
