BREADED FRIED CHICKEN LEG WITH COLESLAW

When I say "Fried chicken" what comes to your mind? KFC or Popeyes? One of the frequent fast food that is bought in the US is fried chicken and it never gets old.

INGREDIENTS

  • Chicken Legs (medium)        - 1 lbs/ 1/2 kg
  • Chilly Powder                - 1/2 tsp
  • Ground Black Pepper          - 1 tsp
  • Ginger Garlic Paste          - 2 tbsp.
  • Yogurt                       - 3 tbsp.
  • All Purpose Flour            - 1/3 cup
  • Corn Meal (optional)         - 2 tbsp.
  • Corn Flour                   - 1/4 tsp
  • Egg (lightly beaten)         - 1 large
  • Bread Crumbs                 - 1 cup
  • Salt as needed
  • Oil for frying 
METHOD OF PREPARATION STEP BY STEP

1.Marinate the chicken pieces with chilly powder, ground black pepper, ginger garlic paste, yogurt and salt. Refrigerate the marinated chicken for 2-3 hours.

2.Cook the chicken until it is 3/4th cooked. Remove from the chicken pieces from the stock and keep the stock aside.

3.In a large bowl, combine all purpose flour, corn flour, beaten egg, half a teaspoon of black pepper, corn meal and salt to taste. Add the stock and form a thick batter.

6.Dip the chicken pieces in the batter and then dredge in bread crumbs until it is well coated with the crumbs. Keep it on a plate. Do the same for all the pieces.

7.Heat oil in a thick bottomed pan. When oil is hot dip each of the pieces slowly into the oil. Flip the chicken pieces in between as needed and deep fry the chicken over low medium heat till it turns golden brown.

INGREDIENTS 
TO PREPARE COLESLAW

  • Green Cabbage                 - 1/2 cup
  • Carrot (chopped)              - 1/3 cup
  • Mayonnaise                    - 3 tbsp.
  • Ground Black Pepper           - 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar                         - 1 tsp
  • Yogurt                        - 2 tbsp.
  • White Onion                         - 2 tbsp.

METHOD OF PREPARATION STEP BY STEP

1.Chop green cabbage, carrot and white or red onion finely.

2.Whisk together mayonnaise, yogurt, ground black pepper, salt and sugar in a bowl.

Add the chopped cabbage, carrot and onion. Mix everything well.

SERVE THE CHICKEN ALONG WITH THE COLESLAW
